There is no cell reception at camp, and we do not have wi-fi available. This allows all our campers – kids and adults alike – to disconnect for the week without any temptations to "check in." Our counselors are fully focused on their campers and campers are not distracted with devices. If you bring your phone, we recommend keeping it on airplane mode.
We have bunks in our log cabins with a twin-sized mattress. Please bring a sleeping bag or bedding for your mattress. It can dip to low temperatures at night, even into the 30s during the summer because we're at 7,200 ft elevation, so please ensure your bedding will be warm enough.
We will be offering transportation via bus from Boise to Camp for Youth Week 2 (July 12-17) & Youth Week 3 (July 19-24) Sunday, Wednesday and Friday! $80 for one way or round trip. On registration you may add the shuttle under optional purchases at check out.
Camp is dirt terrain, and while the trails around camp are smoothed down, it can still be rocky. We recommend closed-toe and closed-back shoes. Campers in our youth programming (grades 1-12) must have a pair of tennis shoes or hiking boots to wear around camp, hiking the trails, and while horseback riding. Sandals are acceptable for beach day and walking to the bath houses.
We offer horseback riding as an add-on opportunity for Pathfinders, Trailblazers, Navigators, LITs, and for Family+ and Grand Camps. We partner with Mystic Saddle Ranch at Redfish Corrals to take campers on a guided 60-minute trail ride along Little Redfish Lake. The loop is great for beginners and experienced riders. Closed-toe shoes and long pants are required. Helmets are provided by Mystic Saddle. Participants must be 6+ (pertaining to family campers). The 60-minute ride is $65.
We offer white water rafting as an add-on opportunity for Navigators and LITs, as well as for Family+ and Grand Camps. We partner with Sawtooth Adventure Co. for a 2-3 hour guided white water raft trip on the Middle Fork and Salmon River featuring Class III family-friendly rapids. Participants must be 10+ (pertaining to family campers).
This adventure is $110 per person.
We have updated about half of our cabins to include private restrooms and showers, as well as electric hand dryers. There are two private bathhouses on both sides of camp with toilets, sinks and showers that are within walking distance of all the cabins.
Our main lodge (Sawtooth) has modern bathrooms and electric hand dryers to cut down on paper use. Sawtooth Lodge also has a filtered water bottle drinking fountain.
Check In for all camps and retreats is from 4 – 6 p.m. on the first day (Sunday for youth camps, Fridays for most retreats). Departure is from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. on the last day (Wednesday for Explorers, Friday for all other youth camps, Sunday for retreats). Campers are expected to be off-site by 12:00. LHBC provides an optional pack-out lunch for all campers and their families after Closing Worship.
