Senior High Camp

Senior high youth will find the “same” Luther Heights this week, but will enjoy an experience geared toward their level of maturity as they encounter Christ in this meaningful week of camp.

Who:  Senior High Camp is for youth entering 9th–12th grades.

When:  The program is offered during the summer months. See program schedule for dates.

Schedule: Here is a brief snapshot of your child’s time at camp:

Sunday:

Registration is between 2:00pm–5:00pm.  (You are invited to stay for dinner at 6:00pm.  Just let us know at registration!)  Your child will meet their counselor, get settled into the cabin, and play some get–to–know–you games while waiting for the rest of the campers to arrive.  After dinner that evening, campers sing songs, tour camp, and are heartily welcomed to camp with an orientation and introductions to staff members.  Campers enjoy time at the camp store (canteen) where they can enjoy snacks, priced at $0.75.  Worship around the campfire closes out the day.  Campers reflect on their day with a devotion led by the counselor in the cabin.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday:

Breakfast begins each day at 8:00am followed by singing on the back deck of the main lodge.  Worship follows breakfast and is held in the outdoor chapel, the meadow, or one of many other beautiful spots at Luther Heights.  Bible study follows worship and involves reading the Bible along with interactive activities, games or crafts to bring active learning into the experience.

An overnight campout, usually planned for Tuesday night, makes this week of camp great!  Cabin groups get to help decide where they will make camp for their overnight. Some groups want to hike a ways while others don’t go too far from Luther Heights.  Groups cook out dinner and breakfast the next morning before heading back to camp.  This is an experience that deepens bonds within cabin groups.

Feeling nervous about the overnight?  This isn’t extreme hiking and you are surrounded and supported by your cabin group and counselor in all of your endeavors.  You’ll find it to be the “same” Luther Heights with an extra added adventure.  Challenge yourself and your faith!

Your child has the opportunity to sign up for a full-day horseback ride or rafting trip (both an extra $70.00).  We partner with Mystic Saddle Ranch for the horseback rides and Sawtooth Adventure Company for the rafting.

The evenings of each day involves playing an all–camp game, snacks at the camp store, and worship around the campfire.

Thursday:

Also known as “Beach Day” — Thursday is another action–packed day at camp.  After breakfast and morning worship, cabin groups will dive into Bible study and then hit the trail for the beach at Alturas Lake for lunch and fun.  The evening concludes with a special worship service followed by a game/dance night.

Friday:

Bible study, packing, and closing activities happen on this last day, with a closing worship right before lunch at noon.  Campers say goodbye and head home after lunch.

Cost:  See Program Costs page for more information.
